Privacy Policy

Effective October 14, 2026

The Makana Foundation ("we," "us") runs this website to share our food rescue and home repair work in Belleville, Michigan. This page explains what we collect and what we do with it. Short version: we collect very little, we do not sell it, and we only use it to answer you.

What we collect

We do not run advertising trackers or analytics cookies on this site.

How we use it

Who we share it with

We do not sell or rent your information. Form submissions are processed by Netlify and delivered to our email. Donations are handled by a third-party payment processor at pay.themakanafoundation.org. We never see or store your card number, and the processor's own privacy policy applies to that payment. We may share information if the law requires it.

Third-party services

This site loads fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser contacts Google's servers when a page loads. It also links to Facebook and our payment page. Those services have their own privacy policies.

Requests for food or home repair help

If you ask for help, we collect only what we need to serve you and keep it private. We will not publish your name, photo, or situation without your written permission.

Photos

We post photos from our events and programs. If you appear in a photo and want it removed, email us and we will take it down.

How long we keep it

We keep messages as long as needed to respond and for our records, then delete them. Ask us to delete yours sooner and we will.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you think a child sent us information, email us and we will delete it.

Your choices

You can ask to see, correct, or delete the information we hold about you by emailing info@themakanafoundation.org.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will post the new version here with a new date.
