Terms of Use
Effective October 14, 2026
By using this website you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
About this site
This site is run by The Makana Foundation, a volunteer-driven nonprofit in Belleville, Michigan. It is here to share information about our programs and to make it easy to donate, volunteer, or ask for help.
Information, not guarantees
We work to keep the site accurate, but programs, hours, and availability can change. Food and home repair help depends on volunteers, supplies, and funding. Nothing on this site promises that any person will receive services.
Home repair program
Repair help is limited to small jobs handled by volunteers and partners. Submitting a request does not guarantee a repair. We may decline or defer any job that is outside our scope, unsafe, or needs a licensed contractor. Volunteers and partners are responsible for holding any licenses and insurance their work requires.
Donations
Donations are made through a third-party payment page and are processed by that provider. Please contact donate@themakanafoundation.org for a receipt or any question about a gift. Unless stated otherwise at the time of the gift, donations support our general mission and are not refundable once processed. If you believe a charge was made in error, email us and we will work with you.
Content and trademarks
The text, photos, and logos on this site belong to The Makana Foundation or are used with permission. Partner names and logos belong to their owners and appear to recognize their support. Please do not copy or reuse our content without asking first.
Using the site
Please do not misuse the site, try to break or overload it, or send spam or unlawful content through our contact form.
Links to other sites
We link to outside sites such as Facebook and our payment page. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content or practices.
No warranty, limited liability
The site is provided "as is." To the extent the law allows, The Makana Foundation and its volunteers are not liable for damages that result from using the site or relying on its content.
Accessibility
We want everyone to be able to use this site. If you have trouble reading or navigating any page, email info@themakanafoundation.org and we will help you and fix the problem.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan.
Changes
We may update these terms and will post the new version here with a new date.
